Many Christian men want to lead their families well, but feel unsure what biblical leadership looks like in everyday life.

I understand that tension personally. I grew up in a home without a father. As I watched the men around me, I noticed three patterns: passivity, control, and confusion. I did not want to repeat any of them.

What God showed me over time is this:

Through Scripture, prayer, marriage, and fatherhood, God reshaped my understanding of leadership. What emerged is what I call the Doorway Leadership Model, a Christ-centered framework for husbands rooted in humility, responsibility, and purposeful authority.

A husband functions like a doorway to his home. Not a prison gate, but a place of protection and discernment. He pays attention to what shapes his family spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. Here’s the secret: the closer a man stays to Christ, the more light fills his home.

Biblical leadership never says, “That’s not my job.” Responsibility means caring about the wellbeing of the home as a whole. Emotional health, spiritual growth, and relational safety all matter.

Authority is stewardship, not dominance. A husband has the responsibility to build what honors God and remove what undermines it.

Clear values and loving correction create peace.

Homes marked by peace, not fear.
Marriages rooted in trust, not control.
Children who understand authority as service.

This kind of leadership grows slowly, through daily dependence on God and intentional presence.
